Mosac Background

Mosac has been delivering unique support services for the families of victims of Child Sexual Abuse (CSA) for over 25 years. In a safe environment, we offer free services to families affected by CSA, all of whom are vulnerable with some being excluded, or facing other forms of hardship.  Mosac’s services include a national Helpline, Counselling, Play Therapy, Advocacy & Advice, Training and e-mail support services.

We enable families to achieve and sustain an improved quality of life by rebuilding confidence, alleviating isolation, improving well-being and resilience, promoting inclusion and empowering individuals to move on with their lives, with the skills and knowledge to safeguard themselves and their children in the future


About Mosac parent workshops

We offer a range of free workshops for non-abusing parents and carers to help them in developing coping strategies to deal with the consequences of child sexual abuse. The workshops aim to help parents to:

  • enhance their confidence and parenting skills
  • aid their child’s healing process
  • manage the effects of the child’s grooming process
  • manage the child’s behaviour, anger and anxieties
  • re-establish and strengthen your parent-child bond

These workshops can be delivered on a one to one basis or in a group setting.

 

Role description

1. Design and deliver a range of individual workshops and group work programmes to non-abusing parents and carers

  • Ensure the workshops are widely advertised and all potential enquiries are followed up
  • Complete a risk and needs assessment for each referral to assess eligibility and support needs for the workshops
  • Design a series of individual workshops based on the parents needs or enroll them on a suitable group work programme
  • Deliver the workshops from a trauma informed approach based on the participants preferred learning style
  • Ensure all workshops meet child protection and safeguarding protocols
  • Signpost to further support services if required


2. Support the development of the workshops by:

  • Ensuring all pre and post evaluation forms are completed
  • Reviewing service user feedback
  • Adapting training materials and content based on feedback
  • Feeding into future developments as appropriate


3. Ensuring we can evidence what has been achieved on the workshops by:

  • Using the service case management system to record all workshops
  • Producing evaluation reports at the end of each programme to show impact
  • Prepare and submit regular service reports to the Board of Trustees and Mosac funders
  • Actively encourage service user involvement in service development


4. Active member of the Mosac team by:

  • Attending regular clinical Supervision, supported by Mosac
  • Attending regular Mosac staff and team meetings
  • Carrying out any other reasonable duties as required from time to time by the charity
  • Some flexibility and out of hours working may be required from time to time

Essential Skills, Experience and Qualifications

  • Designed and delivered individual workshops and group work programmes to clients who have experienced challenging life experiences
  • Delivered creative and engaging workshops responding to the clients needs
  • Experience of delivering online training
  • Empathy with Mosac’s clients and cause
  • Experience of carrying out risk and needs assessments
  • Excellentcommunication skills, including experience of communicating effectively across cultures and with diverse audiences, both verbally and in writing
  • Excellent written and spoken English
  • Excellent IT skills – with a good knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel
  • Excellent organizational, time management and decision-making skills
  • Knowledge of the impact of Sexual Abuse on children, families and the wider community
  • Ability to identify and flag safeguarding issues for vulnerable adults and children
  • Knowledge of child development

 

Disclosure and Barring Service and Data Protection

Due to the nature of Mosac’s work with vulnerable children and adults,  the successful candidate for this role will be required to provide information for a Criminal record check (Disclosure and Barring Service) on first appointment and thereafter every two years. Where the Manager has access to data relating to clients of Mosac, all such personal data shall be treated in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998 and the principles of the General Data Protection Regulation introduced on 21 May 2018.
