Mosac advises Coronation Street team on historic sexual abuse storyline
To help The Street’s writers develop a story as close to real life as possible, Mosac’s Helpline Manager has been advising the Coronation Street team on a recent storyline about disclosure of historic sexual abuse by the character Paul to his non-abusing Mum, Bernie. It’s important to say that Bernie is not a typical non-abusing parent – in our experience there is no such thing. Child sexual abuse can happen to anyone, irrespective of their background. It is a bold storyline for the Nation’s favourite soap to run and a decision we welcomed and were happy to give time to support, to encourage more people to come forward to receive the help that they need
If you are a non-abusing parent or family member who has been affected by this storyline, please call our National Helpline on 0800 980 1958.
